Dey: artist and writer
I had the opportunity to meet and photograph Dey (them/they/we) at their art studio this past weekend as my 2nd portrait shoot. Dey and I have never met, but had mutual friends.
Despite us both being nervous, we were both able to get comfortable and we ended up laughing a lot. It was so good to connect and talk about culture(s), colonisation, indigenous art, family, gender expansiveness and our existence in this country.
They taught me about the Bogolan cloth that they proudly wear.
I was excited to get to witness and capture them in their creative element while they painted their hoodie.
