This is my visual storytelling project dedicated to capturing the diverse and authentic existence of queer individuals across the world. Through portrait photography and dialogue, this series highlights the beauty, resilience, and individuality of LGBTQ+ people from different backgrounds and cultures.
This project is about connection, creating space, conversation, amplifying voices, and celebrating queer identities in all their forms. Each connection with the person being photographed tells a story, and together, they form a powerful testament to the presence and visibility of the global queer community.
This is an ongoing project that I will be periodically updating as I connect with and photograph more people.
Dey: artist and writer
I had the opportunity to meet and photograph Dey (them/they/we) at their art studio as my 2nd portrait shoot. We have never met, but had mutual friends.
Despite both being nervous, we were able to get comfortable and ended up laughing a lot. It was so good to connect and talk about our culture(s), colonisation, indigenous art, family, gender expansiveness and our existence in this country.
They taught me about the Bogolan cloth that they proudly wear.
I was excited to witness and capture them in their creative element while they painted their hoodie.
